The Melia Caribe Tropical has a long standing reputation for being one of the most family friendly resorts in Punta Cana. Our Vacationkids staff usually visits the Melia Caribe Tropical every time one of us visits Punta Cana. That's because this resort is always upgrading and offering guests all the latest luxuries.

The Melia Caribe Tropical Resort is technically one large resort complex of over 1000 guest rooms. It offers family many choices for dining, activities, even 10 different swimming pools. The property is divided into two sections...the Melia Caribe and the Melia Tropical. For the most part, guests can use all the facilities on either side of the resort but most of the children and family areas are located on the Melia Tropical side of the property. The complex spans the shore of the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, and is surrounded by palm trees,lush gardens, lagoons and the Cocotal Golf and Country Club.

There are two features of the Melia Punta Cana resort that truly make it family friendly. First, Junion suites here will allow 3 kids under the age of 12 to share the room with their parents making the Melia Caribe Tropical family of five friendly. The second big feature here is the Melia Caribe Tropical offers child care for kids starting from age 8 months on up thru teens. In addition, families with little ones can rent strollers or baby gear which helps save on airline luggage fees.

The Beach at the Melia Punta Cana is absolutely stunning. Dotted with numerous swaying palm trees and crystal clear blue waters it offers all sorts of water sports for families.

If there are any down sides to this resort or considerations parents need to make it would be....

- This huge resort offers families plenty of vacation options but it also offers families plenty of walking. There are shuttle trains to help guests get around but expect to do a lot of walking. This resort is not the best choice for any family members that may have mobility issues.

-The two story guest room buildings do not have elevators. We can request rooms on either ground level or upper floors with your reservations but we cannot guarantee your exact room location.
