Puerto Vallarta's various resort areas including Marina Vallarta, Downtown/Viejo Vallarta, the action-packed Hotel Zone (between the Marina and Downtown) and Mismaloya is towards the south. This area is recommended for families who want to be close to all of the action. It is also a good choice for families with younger kids who don't want to face a long transportation time after their flights into Puerto Vallarta airport.

Riviera Nayarit
Riviera Nayarit is the coast line that stretches north for over 100 miles from Puerto Vallarta Center. It is privileged for its natural beauty, ideal climate, white coral beaches and exotic ecosystems. The area boasts a modern marina with 200 slips, shopping mall, quality international restaurants, three golf courses, a water park, two dolphin centers and miles of glistening white beaches. Riviera Nayarit's resort areas include Punta Mita, Nuevo Vallarta, Flamingos and Bucerias. This is the newest resort area and tends to be a bit more laid back.
