The Grand Floridian is a Disney Deluxe resort and was the 3rd resort built in Walt Disney World in 1988. It sits just across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom and is connected to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot by the monorail. Guests also have the option of taking a water launch over to the Magic Kingdom and select Disney Resorts. Bus service to the parks is also available. The Grand Floridian welcomes guests into it's main five story lobby featuring a cage elevator, a stained glass skylight, white columns, dramatic staircase and comfortable parlor furniture. There are 867 standard rooms and 25 deluxe suites located within the main building and 6 lodges. Each of the lodge buildings are named after the islands of the Florida Keys...Sago Cay, Sugarloaf Key, Conch Key, Boca Chica and Big Pine Key.
