Hacienda Tres Rios is a unique family friendly, eco-friendly, all inclusive resort. Opened in 2008, this resort is nestled in a 326-acre pristine nature park in the Riviera Maya. When our vacationkids staff visited, it was immediately apparent that this is not your typical all inclusive resort.

            Hacienda Tres Rios Reviews

The Hacienda Tres Rios is carved into the jungle at the spot where three rivers intersect on their way to the Caribbean Sea.  Notice the water colors here where the river's fresh water (or sweet waters at the Mexicans say) flow into the salt water sea. This natural phenomenon can make the waters here a bit cloudy. It does offer snorkelers a variety of salt water and fresh water fish to visit.

The Hacienda Tres Rios has the feel of being remote and isolated but in reality you're only 6 miles north of all the civilivation and action of the town of Playa Del Carmen.  As you can see form this photo the beach here stands alone. It is close to a mile in length but it is a limited stretch of sand.

This resort sits adjacent toTres Rios Nature Park, which is open exclusively for hotel guests. Families can look forward to guided nature and kayak tours through mangrove forests, snorkeling, zip lines and fishing. There are also unique experiences available here on resort for an additional fee like yachting and equestrian activities.

One of the best features here for families is that the Hacienda Tres Rios is that all the rooms here are family of five friendly. This means 3 kids under the age of 17 can share the same room as their parents. Again, as noted in the above resort photo, the rooms here face either the ocean or the jungle. The jungle views overlook the mangroves. When possible, we do recommend families upgrade to ocean views.

If there are any down sides to this resort or considerations parents need to make it would be....

-The shore line here can be rocky so we recommend packing water shoes. You'll appreciate having them for all the water activities offered in the park.

-This resort does offer a time share program and their sales people can tend to be pushy promising all sorts of freebies. Getting any of their "free" offers requires the sacrifice of a great deal of your vacation time listening to sales pitches. If you want to avoid their efforts, tell them you are a travel agent and they will run for the hills.

-This resort does offer elevators. It is a fairly large complex but it is built in the shape of a U so it's very easy to navigate. That said with all of the waterways and huge pool, it's not very stroller friendly. Also to really enjoy all the family friendly activities in the eco park, we really recommend this property for school age kids, tweens and teens.
