Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa is located about 1.5 hours drive south of Cancun Airport, 12 miles further south from the town of Playa Del Carmen. The resort proudly sits on a small peninsula in the resort town of Puerto Aventuras. It's the perfect location for families looking to visit all the popular attractions the Riviera Maya has to offer like Xcaret Ecological Park, the beaches of Akumal or the Maya Ruins in Tulum.

The five star Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort is part of the AMResorts chain offering "Ultimate Luxury, Ultimate fun" for families. This resort is the sister property to Dreams Tulum six star ultimate luxury resort is located about 20 minutes further south in the Riviera Maya and Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa in Cancun's famous Hotel Zone. AMResorts is one of the fasting growing resort chains in the world with family and adult only properties offered throughout Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

To appreciate how unique the Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort truly is, you first have to appreciate the surrounding local area of Puerto Aventuras. Here you will find a 9 hole, par 36 championship Golf Course, scuba diving, shopping, fine restaurants and a magnificent beach. Puerto Aventuras offers the only deep water mainland marina located between Cancun and Belize City making it a haven for fishermen, divers and sailors. Dreams Puerto Aventuras has a dive shop located right on their beach. For a fee they will help guests arrange diving and motorized water sports.

Puerto Aventuras is a very eclectic resort community centered around a salt water lagoon and marina. The town center is a very short walk from the Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort lobby. Here families will find many waterfront boutiques, galleries, a variety of fine restaurants, bars and shops to explore so there is a lot to do. One of the most distinctive features of the Puerto Aventuras area is the Dolphin Discovery Adventure which is located in the town center lagoon. Here (for a fee) you can swim with the dolphins but the dolphins always enjoy it when friends pop by for a visit!

From the moment guests enter the open air lobby, they are greeted with great service and a friendly "Welcome Home" by the bellmen and check in staff. The new decor will surround guests with orchids, from the fresh flowers at the desk to orchid skylights that give the lobby a new, warm glow. And speak of glow...adults will be welcomed with a refreshing towel and glass of champagne. Of course the children are not forgotten...they can enjoy fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and fruit drink upon arrival.

One notable feature to the new lobby is a business center complete with free internet access for guests wanting to keep in contact with family and friends back home.

Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa consists of one building that is 7 stories tall. It is the only high rise hotel in all of the Riviera Maya!...complete with plenty of brand new elevators! Compared to many of the huge mega-resorts found in the Riviera Maya, Dreams Puerto Adventuras Resort is small with only 305 finely appointed rooms. The resort property is compact and very easy to navigate. It's big enough to give older kids a little bit of independence yet small enough so parents can easily keep an eye on them. This resort is stroller friendly.

The entire resort offers easy access for any family member that may have mobility issues. You won't have to walk miles to get to the beach or the pool. As you can see from the photos, some of the ground floor rooms offer walk out access right to the pool and the beach beyond. As you can see with the photo of Sally, even the main pool has a easy zero entry.

Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa welcomes families, couples and singles alike. It is the perfect choice for reunions, extended families traveling together, familymoons or multi generational vacations. It offers the perfect balance of plenty to do in a laid back environment. This resort has been architecturally designed so that the adult and children's areas are separate but easily accessible for convenience sake. The adult only pool is located on the quiet marina side of the resort. The main activity pool which welcomes adults and children alike is located on the ocean front side of the property along with a 30 person ocean front heated jacuzzi.

One of the biggest upgrades to this property is the beach! Tons of soft, sugar white sand has been brought onto the swimming beach at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort. Sally said her toes recognized the difference immediately. The beach here is part of a small bay. Kids will enjoy the water trampoline and iceberg located just off shore. There is a reef that breaks most of the big waves making it ideal for little swimmers. Just at the edge of the reef is a tiny, little island that is home to one of the most charming wedding gazebos right out over the water making Dreams Puerto Aventuras an ideal locate for a destination wedding and familymoon.

Off to the side there are some rocky areas that are home to many tropical fish. Families looking for a great beach AND good snorkeling have the best of both worlds at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort. On the far edge of Dreams Puerto Aventuras there is a natural salt water pool cut into the rocky shore. Kids and grown ups alike will enjoy visiting here to snorkel and feed the colorful tropical fish in this protected area. If you're really lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of "Godzilla" the resident iguana sunning himself by the edge of the salt water pool. He's big, but very friendly...especially if you bring him some fruit.

There is SO much for families to do at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort as part of their all inclusive program. Scuba diving lessons in the pool, windsurfing, boogie boards, Volleyball, yoga, hobie cats, Euro-bungee, cooking lessons, family big screen movies on the beach at night, Spectacular live performances, Star gazing dance parties, Themed party nights and cocktail parties. A brand new theater and cocktail lounge is one of the latest additions to Dreams Puerto Aventuras that Suzie really enjoyed!

Kids can have plenty of their own fun at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Explorers Club. This program is part of the resort's all inclusive program and is designed for the comfort and safety of vacationing kids ages 3-12 years old. The Dreams Puerto Aventuras Explorers club has been built from the ground up with padded floors and rounded corners. Pagers are issued to parents so they can stay in contact. Strict security is enforced. Staff members have been certified in child safety and first aid according to American Red Cross standards.

The fully supervised Dreams Puerto Aventuras Explorers Club is open daily from 9am-10pm. The program incorporates activities that are fun, intriguing and educational for different age groups. It takes inspiration from local Mexican and Mayan cultures. Younger children might make sand castles, pinatas and paper airplanes, go on nature walks, search for shells and play pirate. Beepers are available to parents so they be in constant contact.

Older kids might play beach volleyball, air hockey and water polo, go on iguana safaris, and learn some Spanish and meringue dance moves. There is a beach camping adventure which takes place one night a week when kids camp out in tents until 10pm.

Just a note, toddlers must be at least age 3 and potty trained to participate in Explorer club activities. Individualized and after hours babysitting is available starting from $10 per hour. Babysitting needs to be arranged with concierge 24 hours in advance.

Teens also have their own special spot at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. They can enjoy their own lounge complete with snacks, video games, internet access and teen concierge to ensure everyone is having a good time.

The food at Dreams Puerto Aventuras is WONDERFUL!
Your Unlimited-Luxury experience means unlimited gourmet dining. Six internationally themed restaurants serve luscious fare in stunning outdoor and indoor settings. No reservations, wristbands or coupons are required. Besides 24 hour room service, families have their freedom to choose any restaurant whenever they want. All the restaurants here have newly updated decor.

El Patio - Mexican restaurant sits right at the ocean's edge complete with a romantic centerpiece and Tequila tasting museum...Sally's favorite! It offers indoor, air conditioned dinning with tasty ocean views. This restaurant is open for breakfast from 8am to 10am, lunch from 12pm to 5pm, and dinner from 6pm to 11pm.

Gohan &151; The newest roof lounge restaurant serving the freshest Japanese sushi delicacies along with elegant ocean views. Outdoor dinning open from 6:30pm till 10pm.

Oceana Restuarant - ADULTS ONLY RESTAURANT Located on the Marina or Adult side of the resort offers delectable fresh seafood in a romantic candle lit atmosphere from 6:30 till 11pm.

Portofino Restaurant - Offers Italian gourmet feasts

World Cafe - Offers generous buffet portions of international dishes complete with a special section devoted entirely to kids and their unique tastes. Specialty themed nights are offered as well in air conditioned comfort. Breakfast served from 7am to 11am, lunch 12:30pm till 3pm and dinner from 6pm till 11pm.

Seaside Grill offers casual outdoor dinning poolside for lunch from 12:30pm to 5pm and for dinner from 6:30pm till 11pm. There is also a new Snack Bar on the beachside open from 11am till 6pm offering burgers, hot dogs and quick snacks.

Dreams Puerto Aventuras does have dress codes for their restaurants. The World Cafe and snack bars are casual...shorts, capris, sneakers and bathing suits with cover ups are permitted. Their other restaurants require men wear long pants for dinner and no sleeveless shirts. Sneakers, tennis shoes and sandal are allowed. Suggested attire for women would be skirts, slacks, blouses or dressed and casual sportswear for kids.

In addition, guests ages 18 and older can enjoy 4 indoor and outdoor bars and lounges. All serve unlimited top premium name brands, another one of your Unlimited-Luxury privileges....

The new guest rooms are gorgeous and look like they came right out of a pottery barn catalog. Shown here is a deluxe room. All of the deluxe rooms offer the same great room amenities and will allow 3 adults or 2 adults with 2 children under the age of 12. The difference with the deluxe rooms is all about location. Garden view rooms are located on the 1st, 2nd or third floors either facing the ocean or marina. Most of these rooms do have a limited water view but please know you will most likely have some plants or palm trees in your line of vision. The deluxe marina or deluxe ocean rooms are located on the 4th, 5th or 6th floor and face the marina or ocean respectively. Because you're higher than the palm trees, you'll enjoy a great water view.

Deluxe room amenities at Dreams Puerto Aventuras includes satellite TV, daily restocked mini-bar, full-sized baths with separate showers, concierge and 24-hour room service all await you. Children 2 and under are free of charge at Dreams Puerto Aventuras when sharing room with 2 paying adults .Children 3 to 12 years old pay a child's rate when sharing room with 2 paying adults. In addition, over two thirds of the rooms in this resort offer adjoining rooms making it a great choice if you're traveling with a large or extended family. Again, this is a request and not a guarantee but at least architecturally, you have a better chance of having your request granted.

The TOP in luxury at Dreams Puerto Aventuras is found on the 7th floor. This is considered the Preferred club. The Preferred Club rooms and suites offer additional VIP services, enhanced amenities and privileges including:

Dreams Puerto Aventuras also offers a couple of exciting room categories perfect for Vacationkids families....check out their new FAMILY SUITE!!! These family suites are available with garden views (30 units available), ocean views (18 units available) and even in the preferred club (4 units available). These rooms are HUGE!...Almost 450 square feet. They come complete with two double beds and a fold out sofa that will sleep a family of five....either 3 adults and 3 children or 2 adults and FOUR children under the age of 12!

There is also a very limited amount of guaranteed ADJOINING Deluxe rooms for families. This would be a king bed deluxe room adjoined by a doorway to another deluxe room with two double beds. This way families get two full bathrooms, more space and privacy for parents. These rooms will also allow families of 5 or 6 but are EXTREMELY limited.

These family suites offer a large bath room with two sinks and a separate water closet with a toilet, shower and extra large garden tub (NOT a jetted or jacuzzi tub).
