 Disney Vacation countdown

You've booked your magical vacation to Disney, now you wait.  The anticipation builds, the excitement can feel almost overwhelming at times, but there are always ways to increase the fun and make the wait as memorable as your Disney vacation! Here are some tricks to help with vacation anticipation.

One of the first things I always suggest that guests do is to start a count down calendar.  From the time you book to the time you leave for Disney, this is sure to be one of your most memorable vacations ever!  You don't have to be super creative or a mega Disney fan to add a little more magic to your Disney vacation.  An hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly countdown will work.  Whether your young, old, or in between think of it as an added bonus for spending extra time with your family and friends.  Include everyone in the process, brainstorm ideas together, search for ideas on the web, and encourage everyone's creative side!

Pick up a Disney calendar and cross off the days as you get closer and closer to your vacation.  If you enjoy crafts pick up a few Disney related items (ex. stickers, paper, fabric, etc.) and or create some Disney items (ex. draw some Mickey Mouse ears) to make a countdown calendar.  Many guests create a paper chain and tear off a link each week.  Wrap up a Disney related item (ex. a book, a toy, stickers, etc.) for your child to open each month until the day you leave for Disney.  You can even create a Disney themed countdown app for  your Iphone or Android Phone. The possibilities are endless and the key is that you are creating magical memories with your family that are sure to last a lifetime and possible even become a tradition that they pass on to their own families someday.

To add even more Disney memories plan monthly or bimonthly Disney meetings with your family.  You can use this time to look over park maps and plan out your itinerary or pick out the restaurants your family would like to make reservations at.  Go over your travel plans together, talk to your kids about park safety.  Perhaps your family has decided to make matching t-shirts for this vacation, have a design contest party if you plan to have the shirts made or buy some supplies and make the shirts together.  Watch one of your favorite Disney movies together and or read some of your favorite Disney books together.

All of the excitement for your vacation to Disney will increase as  your anticipation builds, but hopefully your wait time will fly by quickly.  You may even find yourself enjoying the parks more when you arrive because you are more prepared for what lies ahead.  By involving the whole family in the process of preparing for a Disney vacation you can avoid the stress of it all being on one person's shoulders and you can all have a magical Disney vacation together!

Have you ever made a countdown calendar?  Share some of your ideas with us, we love the fun, funky, creative, extravagant ways people get ready for their Disney vacations!
