What is a Disney Cruise like

There's no need to think twice, you SHOULD go on a Disney Cruise!

Leave your excuses at home and get ready for a memorable adventure with your family and or friends.  The more the merrier!  Climb aboard and get set to relax, eat, drop the kids off at the kids clubs, enjoy an excursion, and be entertained.  The crew is fantastic and they'll make you feel right at home!

Here's an idea of what you can expect on a three night Disney Cruise to the Bahamas aboard the Disney Dream!

We arrived at Port Canaveral around 12:00 pm on a Thursday for embarkation. If you've never taken a cruise before, embarkation means cruise ship check in.  Once we made it through the terminal (very easy process), we boarded the ship and headed to the Enchanted Garden for a buffet style lunch.  After checking out our cabin, we headed to the Mandatory Life Boat Drill.  By 4:30 pm we were on Deck 11 for the Sailing Away party!

One of my favorite parts to a Disney cruise is getting our Personal Naviagator. The Personal Navigator is pamphlet we received each day to let us know about what would be going on that coming day. It lists everything happening for that upcoming day and there is a ton of fun listed from morning until night. Be warned... I do wish we had had more time to participate in all of the activities. No doubt you'll feel the same way too.

Our nights were basically the same, we chose to eat at the earlier dinner, attended the shows every night, and then went to the pool.  The first night we ate at the Enchanted Garden, the second night the Royal Palace, and the third night at Animator's Palate.  Each night there are different theatrical shows to enjoy. Our family loved The Golden Mickeys, Villains, and Disney's Believe.  My girls enjoyed the pools and it was a great way to bring out the last bit of their energy as well as avoid the crowds by swimming before bed.  Since my eldest met the 42 inch height requirement we even tried the Aquaduck water slide and loved it!

Our mornings were casual, we woke up when we felt like it, found breakfast at one of the restaurants and prepared for our day.  On Friday my Mom and I dropped the girls off at Disney's Oceaneer Club so we could explore the Bahamas for a few hours.  They had a blast interacting with the other kids and even had a chance to hang out with Tinkerbell for a while!  Saturday the ship docked at Disney's private Island, Castaway Cay.  We disembarked and headed for the beach and a fabulous BBQ on the island.

Both of the movies playing in the Buena Vista Theatre were ones we had already seen, but we did manage to visit the Arr-Cade to play a few games.  I think the girls and I downed a few gallons of ice cream by ourselves from the self-serve machines on Deck 11 and on Castaway Cay.  We waited in line for a few character pictures and checked out the shops on board as well.  I even managed to get a three mile run in on the track located on Deck 4.

The final day, Sunday, was a bit rough for all of us and I would definitely do it differently next time.  Your bags need to be packed and in the hallway the night before.  We had decided to return to breakfast at Animator's Palate the next morning, but we had to be there at 6:45 am, none of us were thrilled to be there that early.  Next time we'll sleep as long as we can and grab something quick to eat before disembarkation...aka getting off the ship!

Disney cruises offer families exciting vacation options to visit the Caribbean, Bahamas, Alaska, California, Europe and more. Disney Cruise Ships sail from the ports of Miami, Port Canaveral, Vancouver, LA, San Diego, Galveston, San Juan, Barcelona and Venice. Cruises last from short 3 day Bahama sailings to 12 day tours of the Mediterranean. Excited Port Adventures can be added to every stop along your way.

Our family had a hard time deciding if we wanted to take a Disney Cruise or head to Walt Disney World parks instead. I'm sure this is a very hard choice for many families.  The good news is you don't have to choose. Disney offers combination vacations like 4 days in the park and 3 days at sea or vice versa. It's like having surf and turf - A Disney land and sea vacation offers your family the best of both worlds!

One of the great things about Disney Cruises is that you can make your vacation plans FAR in advance. You can book your cruise confidently far in advance with a small deposit and use our free Vacation payment plan to make affordable monthly payments. The farther out you book the cheaper those monthly payments. Worried about missing out on some great last minute deal, don't be. If your Disney cruise goes on sale, we'll call Disney for you and have the lower sale price applied to your reseration.  We like saving our clients money whenever and where ever possible!
