Disney souvenirs

Let's talk about Walt Disney World souvenirs!  You have to have SOMETHING to remember your magical trip!

Memories are priceless, but a small (or large) memento from your trip can spark a memory and take you back to a wonderful moment that will help you make it through your milk spilled all over the sofa and carpet kind of day.  I'm not suggesting you overload your home and office with every piece of Disney paraphernalia you can get your hands on, (Unless this is totally your thing, then go for it!), I'm allotted minimal displays in our house, which is great!  You might even find some hidden Mickey's if you stop by!

First and foremost, get those pictures!  Take your own pictures and or take advantage of Disney's PhotoPass.  You can purchase Disney's PhotoPass+ or a PhotoPass CD before your arrival at a discounted rate.  Walt Disney World has photographers throughout the parks and Downtown Disney, everyone in your family/group will be able to get in the picture and you'll end up with some amazing shots, which you can customize later.

Small souvenirs make great gifts and can sometimes turn into large collections.  If you visit Disney a lot, start collecting pins, figurines, or even Christmas ornaments.  I always try to get postcards and write a little note on the back for each of my girls.  Lets face it, I can't remember everything and in a few years the girls can pull out the postcards, read the note  and ALAKAZAM, a memory!  My favorite souvenir rights now is a small kitchen gadget called a Mickey Mouse Disney Sandwich Toast Press.  You press the imprint of Mickey onto a piece of bread, toast the bread and instantly you have Mickey Toast, which has become a favorite breakfast item in our house.  I also recommend bringing along plenty of pennies to press.

If you really want the large Walt Disney World souvenir items, get them!  You can always ship them home or have them sent to your room so you don't have to lug them around the park all day.  I will caution you that I highly recommend setting a souvenir budget.  It's easy to go overboard and sometimes it can be hard to choose just one or two items.  If you're planning to buy something for your dog sitter, your hairdresser, your neighbors Mom, etc. things could get a little pricey.  It always helps to have an idea of who you are buying for, why you are buying an item, and what the purpose of the item will be in the future.  Another thing to keep in mind is that you may want to do some Christmas shopping at Downtown Disney and ship everything home, not only will you have a magical vacation, but you could be set for the holidays as well!

One final souvenir tip, send a few Disney t-shirts and souvenirs to your room before you arrive, your kids will be overjoyed and you might be able to avoid the "gimmies" when you get to the parks!
