How Families of 5 Can Save on a Disney CruiseAt Vacationkids, we've always been crusaders of family of 5 vacations - You know, parents who are frustrated trying to find vacation options with their 3 kids.

Of course, if you are looking for a Disney Vacation, the parks offer PLENTY of family of 5 room options at just about every price point. Did you know Disney Cruise Lines offers plenty of family of 5 options too?

There are 4 Disney Cruise Line ships - The Disney Magic, The Disney Wonder, The Disney Dream & The Disney Fantasy. The wonderful thing about Disney Cruise Line is the Disney difference...Disney KNOWS hospitality. Each of these ships offers the perfect blend of activities for guests of all ages. There are supervised, age appropriate Children's activities from babies of 12 weeks of age up to teens. There adult only spaces and places when Mom & Dad need a little alone time. Best of all there are plenty of fun activities and magical events that will bring the whole family together.

The good news is, ALL of the Disney Cruise Line ships have been built with family of 5 cabins. but surprisingly, these are not always the best best for families of 5.

For example, if you're looking to sail on the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder, Disney will offer up their Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Verandah.  This room is large enough and outfitted to comfortably sleep a family of 5. You DO get a balcony or a "verandah" with this stateroom along with 1 bathroom.

BUT...

Did you know your family of 5 could save some significant bucks, get double the space and TWO bathrooms by booking 2 connecting Ocean View Cabins or 2 connecting Inside staterooms? With cruises, when you place your deposit, you can pick your EXACT cabins so you can make sure their are adjoining with a door in between. Often our parents with tweens and teens would gladly give up a balcony for the option of having 2 bathrooms. This option also works out great for parents with little ones who have earlier bedtimes. Of course, giving mom & dad a little "privacy" so that they can enjoy a little "romance" while on vacation is always a fun idea (wink, wink, nudge, nudge if you get our drift here ;-)

Now many families roll their eyes at the though of booking an inside cabin without any windows. We hear those complaints all the time...It's claustrophobic! No worries - leave it to Disney Imagineers to actually give you the perfect "magical" view from your inside cabin so that you "technically" get the view of an outside cabin with our having to pay for a porthole...plus views of your favorite Disney Characters!

With the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy Ships, the Deluxe family Ocean View cabin is the basic family of 5 cabin that is offered. Again, parents can often save significant coin by booking 2 adjoining inside staterooms with magic portholes.

As with everything Disney, it's best to book as FAR in advance as possible.  The most important reason for this is that you not only get the best rates but you get the best pick of availability. This goes for whether you want that family of 5 verandah cabin or your pick of the perfect adjoining staterooms.  With Vacationkids, you NEVER have to worry about booking too early and missing a sale...if prices drop, even after you make your deposit, our travel agents will adjust any qualifying reservations to reflect any of Disney's Sale offers.  When you book in advance, you can also take advantage of our free Vacationkids monthly payment plans.
