ADD Disney Vacation Planning Tips I LIKE Dug. He's the Dog from the Disney movie UP. He is such a wonderful character. He's optimistic, affectionate and loves to please others. He's on a mission to find something. He just gets a little distracted.

We see the Dug syndrome all the time with parents trying to plan a Disney Family Vacation for their kids. They love their kids and want nothing more than to make them happy.  They know they want a theme park vacation. They are on a mission to plan a great family vacation until they see something shiny out of the corner of their eye.

Distraction happens very easily with a Disney vacation. There are lots of shiny, sparkely and magical Disney things that can distract you from your mission. The most wonderful thing about a Disney vacation is that there are offers SO MANY choices. This allows us to customize and personalize vacations to fit the needs and wish lists of every family.

The problem with having so many wonderful choices is that it is vert easy to quickly get distracted and not complete your mission. Family vacation planning is another one of those times when focus and decisions are  necessary to make for a great experience. If you are looking to enjoy some specific experiences on your Disney World Vacation then you need to be able to make decisions in a timely manner before they sell out.

Here are some tips to help you focus on your Disney Vacation planning....

  • Give yourself plenty of time for research. Start your planning about 1 year in advance. Do some homework and familiarize yourself with all of the Disney options available to you.  Read some guide books, talk to our agents, let us send you Disney vacation planning DVDs and brochures available to you.
  • Making your decisions one my one will help keep you from getting too distracted and overwhelmed. You can make your Disney Hotel reservations 499 days in advance. Park tickets can be added about a year in advance. Flight prices are published 330 days in advance and most Disney dining and events 180 days out.
  • Prioritize your magic and make a check list. Talk to your family members and find out what "must see" events, attractions and features are on their individual wish lists. Having a priority list will help to keep your planning focus.
  • If you have a hard time focusing and making decisions, leave that work to our Vacationkids family fun specialists. They know all the wonderful magic Disney offers and they are wonderful matchmakers. Give us your dates, budget and tell us who is going with you.  Leave the decision making work to us and we'll make you happy.
  • If you are the type that gets easily distracted, its even more important to have some sort of a daily park itinerary. Last thing you want to do is wander aimlessly and spend your time waiting in long lines. Vacationkids can create daily park plans that can keep you on track. We can balance out your Must-Sees attractions along with any dining reserations. This means organized not boring...and it's free for our clients
  • Don't leave home without a Disney Day plan - some sort of daily itinerary built around all the must see spots on your wish list, fast passes, dining, shows etc.  This is something we offer to vacationkids clients that will help you get the most value while making the most of your time at the parks.
