Riviera Maya
The Riviera Maya is a term used to describe over 100 miles of Caribbean coastline along the Yucatan Penisula. This area starts just south of Cancun airport near the town of Puerto Morales and continues down to the Mayan ruins of Tulum.
The Riviera Maya offers families close to 40,000 rooms in stylish, comfortable hotels and all inclusive family resorts. The atmosphere here is far more laid back than Cancun. Here the resorts cannot be built any taller than the palm trees that dot the shore.
The area gets it's name from the Mayan people. Their civilization has called this area home for more than 1,000 years. Families can visit their ancient ruins and learn about their contributions to politics, mathematics, art and the written word.
