Disney World Hollywood Studios with a toddler

If you're visiting Walt Disney World, your toddlers are going to love Hollywood Studios. There are a few MUSTS when you visit Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios for families with Toddlers!

As soon as you get to Hollywood Studios head straight for the Toy Story Midway Mania ride.  With any luck you will get through the line quickly. Even if the line happens to be short, grab a fast pass for this ride for an encore later.  My Mom and I waited in line for an hour with my girls when they were about 3 and 18 months, I'm surprised we survived!  While there are tons of things to look at while you wait, you should pull out your bag of tricks complete with quick handy activities for the kids.  (Ex.  Mini coloring book and crayons.)  The ride itself is an immersive video game. It does go quickly so be ready to play.  The more targets you hit, the higher your score!  Kids of all ages simply love this ride.  Little ones get to play games with their favorite Toy Story Characters while grown-up kids enjoy a bit of nostalgia with reminders of toys from their own childhood. Chances are your family will want to ride it more than once! This time, you'll be prepared to come back a little later with that fast pass in hand and enjoy for a much shorter wait.

If your toddlers are a little "antsy" from waiting in any lines,  head over to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure.  It's the perfect play area where toddlers can get a great work out, run around and simply play. Climb on top of an ant, slide down a blade of grass, and even grown ups will laugh like a kid again!  If you need a break from the hot sun, be sure to check out Muppet*Vision 3D!

The younger kids will truly enjoy Disney Junior-Live on Stage.  Here they will be able to see some of there favorite characters from Disney Junior and of course work out some of their energy as they interact with them.

If grown ups need a break at this point from their own little terrors, be sure to ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  I've ridden this so many times, I've lost count, but it never seems to get old. Don't worry, there is a kid swap area here if both parents want to ride. If one parent chooses not to ride and stays with the kids, then right near the Tower you'll find the entrance for Fantasmic.  If you want to see an absolutely amazing show, Fantasmic is the show to see!  My girls were mesmerized and I think the people around us enjoyed their excitement as much as they enjoyed the show.

While there are definitely rides and shows I enjoy, even with all my trips to the parks there are still some haven't tried them all.  Next month I'm looking forward to checking out The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow, because I've heard great things about it! My one daughter is more of a pirate than a princess so I know she'll be excited about seeing this attractions too.

Let's not forget about the food!  If you want a fun dining experience while your are in Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studio's check out the 50's Prime Time Cafe or the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. My kids actually love the Sci-Fi Dine. Tables are fashioned out of old cars to give the feel of a drive in. It's dark (and cool which is a great break from the heat) and they play clips of 1950's horror movies.  My girls giggle at the funny monsters. If you're toddlers are sensative to monsters and the dark then I suggest opting for the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

One feature that my girls absolutely love at Disney World Hollywood Studios are all the street actors.  These improv cast members are dressed in full era costumes and interact with guests drawing them into their scenes.  My girls absolutely love playing "make pretend" with these cast members. Also be sure to have a little fun in the shops as you check out the themed souvenirs that Hollywood Studios has to offer.

Do you have a favorite ride, show, restaurant, or shop in Hollywood Studios?
