How to dress for Disney world

If you run in to me at Walt Disney World with my girls chances are good that the girls are going to be dressed alike!  Odds are also good that you're going to see a lot of siblings dressed alike!

For my family, dressing the girls in the same outfits is part convenience and an even bigger part safety.  (And NO, they are not twins, they're 16 months apart!)  When the girls are wearing the same outfits there is no fighting about clothes.  We've even learned that we can not buy different colors in the same style, because they will both reach for the same color and then they fight and I'm stressed!  Then there is the stress of packing for an entire family. Having a park "uniform" of matching outfits, one for each day keeps me from over packing our luggage too.

When I take my girls to Walt Disney World, it is easier for me to keep an eye on them because I am seeing outfit one and outfit two.  That visual eases my mind when there are so many things going on around us.  If we're at the Wilderness Lodge for dinner and the girls get up to ride the ponies, I can easily spot them from my seat at the table.

On our most recent trip to Walt Disney World I even saw two little girls who had clearly been to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and shocker, they had matching dresses and matching hair!  Maybe they were twins, maybe it was convenience, or maybe they hit a really great two for the price of one deal!  Whatever the case, they were definitely easy to spot in the crowd.

I also highly recommend that you take a picture of your child each morning before you head off to the park, safety is very important and little precautions can go a long way. Besides having daily "before" photos and "after the park" photos are always fun memories for the scrapbooks.

Parents want a stress free vacation and they want their kids want to have fun. Theme parks are crowded places, if little Mary runs off to hug Mickey while her parents turn their backs, but little Mae is still standing next to them, I guarantee you that it is going to be very useful to tell a cast member that you need help finding a little girl who is dressed just like this one.

If you don't think your kids like being dressed alike, allow them to pick the outfits, eldest picks the first day's matching outfit, youngest picks matching outfit for the second day, and so on.  What if you have a boy and a girl?  Oh and she loves skirts?  Easy, matching unisex T-shirts, a black skirt for her, black shorts for him and so on.  If you know someone who sews, buy some material and have them make some dresses for the girls and some shorts and shirts for the boys.  No matter what time of year you plan to visit, always pack a cheap poncho or rain gear of some sort. Again matching bright colors are fun and practical

Allow the kids to pick their own shoes and or accessories if they have a desire to be different and or add a little flare to their outfits. Just be sure all footwear is comfortable and well broken in.

Let us know what you think!  Have you ever dressed your children alike?  Does having matching Disney Park outfits help your family when it comes to packing for your vacation?
