family summer vacation ideasWe're on countdown now people...it's crunch time for summer 2014.

Are you ready parents?

Do you still need some family vacation ideas for this summer?

Summer 2014 may very well belong to Orlando this year! There is just SO MUCH happening there this summer! First is the long anticipated opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine train attraction in Disney World's Magic Kingdom.  A new coaster with all new technology that will be the centerpiece of Disney's all new Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom.  Universal Studios is keeping up the excitement with the grand opening of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley. This is the second park section in Universal Studios devoted to the love of Harry complete with the new Hogwart's express that will connect both parks.  Also at Universal Studios is the new Cabana Bay Resort that will comfortably sleep families up to 6!

We've been getting more and more requests for Hawaiian vacations this summer! In addition, most hotels will allow kids under 17 stay free. This comes in handy for families of teens looking for some surf lessons.  Again, condo or apartment style accommodations are the most requested. It seems adventure seekers are flocking to Hawaii and we've been busy setting up extreme excursions like repelling down waterfalls and touring active volcanoes.

Summer 2014 is repeating last year with another huge spike in multi generational vacations. Grandparents vacationing with their children and grandchildren. So many of our bookings for this summer, especially to Mexico and the Caribbean involve mini reunions. It's a great option to get everyone together for some fun in the sun and nobody gets stuck with all the work. Family all inclusive resorts remain the winners for these multi generational trips. There are several all inclusive resorts now that offer adult only rooms on one side of the property with family friendly accommodations on the other. All guests share public areas like beach and restaurants. For families who want 24/7 togetherness, the hoteliers are catching on and this summer we have a few new condo style all inclusives with up to 3 bedroom units that will accommodate up to 12!

Early summer availability is tight and airfares are higher up until mid July. If you're looking to save a little dough, TRY to plan your summer vacation a bit later in the summer. Double check school calendars and see when your kids head back to school in Sept.  The later you can book your summer vacation, the more you will save.

If you are still stumped and need more guidance or other family vacation ideas, please be sure to ask our founder Sally Black. Just send your questions to ASK MOM and she'll be glad to share her knowledge and experience to make Summer 2014 the best yet for your family.
