family vacation choices
"The more choices, the more freedom, the more freedom, the harder it is to decide what to do next. "
                                                       Seth Godin

Today's post was inspired by business guru Seth Godin.  In his blog article he was describing business marketing options. At Vacationkids we obviously have family travel on the brain because when we read Seth's quote about the freedom of choice, our brains immediately jumped to family vacations.

Say your family is planning a Florida family vacation this year. You google "Orlando Hotels" and are confronted with 109 MILLION choices to click on ( joke, we googled it). Search a bit further and you'll discover Orlando offers visitors 144,125 hotel rooms. Whoa!...that's a lot of hotel room choices!

OK, let's narrow the search...actually you want to take the kids on a Walt Disney World Vacation. You figure it's probably best with the kids to stay right in the park. That helps to narrow your hotel room choices to around 25,000.  Better pour yourself another glass of wine and settle in for a LONG night of research!

Seth says...if you don't view tons of choices as a good thing, it's probably worth doing something else instead.

Vacationkids says...the thing you should do is get the help of an experienced travel agent.

Let's face it, as parents, we are constantly worried about making the best decisions for our kids. It's the stuff that keeps us up at night...not to mention the huge list of daily decisions regarding our jobs, school, health, homes, etc. Some mornings it's hard to decide what shoes to wear....right? Even though we desperately NEED a vacation we may not welcome 109 million more choices being piled high on our shoulders. It can take the joy out of the thought of a vacation.

Travel agents think having tons of choices as a REALLY GREAT thing.  To us, it means that we can create customized vacations for our families instead of "one size fits all" vacations. We are the ones with the glass of wine in the wee hours of the morning filling our brains with all the facts about the 25,000 hotel rooms at Walt Disney World. We stay current with all the latest and greatest news and information...

We do this so that our clients don't have to!

A Disney vacation isn't just about picking the right Disney hotel. Oh have plenty more decisions ahead of you....park passes, dining, shows, daily schedules, which rides should we go on, itinerary. The list of choices and decisions goes on and on.

A good travel agent listens to your family's needs and wish lists. From there they can narrow down your choices and help limit the number of necessary decisions. Instead of 109 million mind boggling hotel room options, you'll be presented with options A, B or C.  All three options will offer your family a fantastic Walt Disney World vacation experience. Better yet, because they know Disney World inside and out, there is a good chance they will KNOW the best options, quickly check availability and save you a TON of time.

At Vacationkids, we meet parents struggling with vacation planning choices every single day. At least in this example, the family knew they wanted to visit Walt Disney World. What about:

Parents that have NO idea where they want to vacation with their kids?

Families considering their very first cruise?

Folks taking their first vacation to a foreign country?

Parents looking for something "exciting" to do with their kids?

New parents that have never traveled with a baby before?

Families who want to show their kids Europe?

Every family vacation comes with a very long laundry list of choices, questions and decisions. You may plan a vacation once or maybe twice a year. Our agents plan family vacations all day long, every day for over 15 years. As with any skill, practice makes perfect.

At Vacationkids, we help parents select the very best family vacation choices for their kids giving parents more freedom to relax from the burdens of decision making.

...and thanks Seth for your insight and inspiration.
