spring break destinations for families  Here at our main Vacationkids office located in the Pocono Mountains in PA we're getting our first weather forecast for measurable snowfall tonight from our local weatherman. Tis the season I guess. Many of our families across the country have already had their first encounter with the white stuff. We can tell because that's usually when our phones start ringing. Usually with the first signs of winter come desperate phone calls from parents looking to head "someplace warm and cheap" for Spring Break.

Believe it or not, many spring break hot spots are already sold out. This is especially true for family of five resorts and some of the more popular resorts. We normally recommend that parents should book their spring break vacations in September as soon as their kids bring home the new school year calendars in their hot little hands. Many school districts and religious schools close on the same weeks so many families are looking to travel the exact same days. For this reason, you don't have to worry about missing any last minute deals. Due to supply and demand it's rare to find any last minute sales during spring break weeks.  The further out you can make your reservations, the better pricing you'll find. Normally our offices get slammed  right after the holidays so beat the rush and book now.

So if you haven't yet made your travel plans, what are some great spring break destinations for families?...

THE BEACH - All Inclusive family resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico are by far the most requested vacations our staff sees. Cancun, Riviera Maya, Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Jamaica are our most popular beach spots. All of these destinations are serviced by many major airlines and charter airlines making airfares a bit more affordable than some more exotic Islands.

FAMILY CRUISES - If you can't make up your mind which beach your family wants to visit, a cruise will let you cover a great deal of terratory while having a great deal of family fun. All of your meals, ship board entertainment and kids care are all included in the price of your cabin.

SKI VACATIONS - If you enjoy winter than go all out and hit the slopes. Perfect idea for active families who love the great outdoors. Get out in the fresh mountain air and do what you love. If you're a newbie, then learn a new life skill that you and your kids will enjoy for years. Remember most ski areas or resort offer a wide variety of winter sport activities or smply relax by the fire.

EUROPE - Europe is the spring break destination for families looking for a good deal. Visiting Europe for Spring break can save you 35-50% over summer time peak season travel times. Many Euro destinations offer mild climates so you can enjoy pleasant weather and avoid the crowds of summer.

City Stay - Enjoy the Cherry Blossoms in DC or take in a Broadway show in Manhattan. Spring Break is again, a great time to avoid summer time heat and crowds. City hotels are expensive but it often pays to find accommodations right in the heart of all the action. Often it will save you money and time with transportation costs and commuting.

If there is one destination that we suggest families avoid during spring break it's theme parks. Park admissions are so expensive and the parks are so crowded and congested during spring break weeks that we don't see it as a good value.  Why spend all that money to wait in line for hours. Save the theme parks for summer break or perhaps a quick weekend getaway during off season. The price of your admission will afford you much more family fun this way.
