Iberostar Tucan Resort is all about the WoW factor! It's no wonder the Iberostar Tucan is such a popular resort with Vacationkids families. From the moment families step into their over-size palapa lobby they feel like they are being transported into another world of adventure. The Iberostar Tucan Resort is a great pick for a family all inclusive vacation.

Talk about eye candy, this stunning hotel sweeps you off your feet by surrounding you with tropical gardens. Marble stepping stones walkways carry you over goldfish laden ponds that line your path to even more surprises ahead. Thatched roof covered paths wind thru tropical lush vegetation complete with exotic birds, monkeys and all sorts of tropical animal friends. As you can see from this picture, Vacationkids Sally Black really enjoyed chatting with the resident parrots during her last
visit to this fabulous property.

Depending where you look, it seems like there are two different Iberostar resorts advertised as being located in Playa Del Carmen...the Iberostar Tucan and the Iberostar Quetzal. Technically speaking the Iberostar resort in Playa del Carmen is really two resorts all rolled into the same lush 28 tropical acres. One side of the resort is named the Iberostar Queztal. The 350 guest rooms on the Queztal side of the resort feature more colonial styled paintings and furniture. Restaurants on this side of the resort also cater a bit more to Canadian and European travelers and their tastes. The Iberostar Tucan 350 guest rooms offer more Mayan influenced decor and cater to American travelers. As you can see by studying the aerial photograph at the top of the page guest rooms flank either side of the property but all guests are free to enjoy any and all amenities and activities at either side of the resort. For the sake of simplicity we'll simply refer to this entire property as the Iberostar Tucan because this is where the majority of our vacationkids families stay.
The resort is located about an hour's ride south of Cancun airport and 5 minutes ride to the town of Playa Del Carmen. You'll feel like you've escaped to a tropical, secluded paradise but you'll be conveniently located to many area sights and attractions like the Cozumel Ferry, The Playacar Golf Club, Xcaret or Xel-ha parks or the fascinating Mayan ruins.
Bonus***All guests who stay at the Iberostar Tucan/Queztal receive complimentary day passed to enjoy all the fun and facilities at the nearby Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar or the Iberostar Cozumel. Day pass guests must provide their own transportation to these other Iberostar properties but this is a great way to enjoy all the hospitality of Iberostar resorts.

The Iberostar Tucan offers your choice of four gorgeous pools including their main lake pool which feels like it simply goes on forever. In the middle is a man made island covered in shady palm trees along with a jacuzzi for the ultimate in relaxation. There is even an adult cenote pool with a cascading waterfall hidden away in jungle seclusion. You'll find a special pool for activities such as scuba lessons, water polo and games as well as a special pool just for the kids. And to top it off, the Iberostar Tucan boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Playacar resort area. Can't you just picture yourself sitting and relaxing under one of these glorious palm trees?
It's good that guests have plenty of places to relax and cool off because there are plenty of activities to keep your family busy. Sailing, snorkeling and windsurfing if you want to keep wet. The Iberostar Tulum also offered a PADI/SSI diving center and all motorized water sports on site (for an additional fee). Perhaps your family would prefer a bike ride, archery, day and night tennis, fitness center, basketball, Spanish or Dance classes if you want to keep dry. Different nightly entertainment is offered with themed shows and Mascara disco is open from 11pm so you can dance into the wee hours.

Iberostar resorts have a reputation for fine dining and the Iberostar Tulum is no exception. Here you'll have your choice of 6 restaurants serving three meals a day as well as snacks to keep you full. Specialty restaurants include La Gondola for Italian cuisine, La Hacienda for Spanish fare and the La Marimba steakhouse grill. Can't decide?...there's always rooms service along with 4 bars serving international brands, domestic beers and house wines.
The Iberostar resorts also have specific rules about their all inclusive restaurants. At check in, families will be issued dining coupons determined by the length of your stay. These coupons are for dinners only at the specialty restaurants. Families will receive one coupon for a 3-4 night stay, 2 for 5-8 night stay and 3 coupons if you're staying 9 nights or longer.
Reservations for the specialty restaurants are made through concierge for the nights you choose to use your dinning coupons. Again these coupons are for dinner only and all guests may dine at the buffet restaurants as many times as they wish. This coupon system insures that everyone gets a fair chance of having a premier dinning experience while staying at the Iberostar Tucan. Please note...Gentlemen are required to wear dress shorts for buffet dinner and long pants for the specialty restaurants. Women and children can dress in smart,
casual sportswear.

There are plenty of activities to keep younger travelers busy at the Iberostar Tucan. Respectfully Sally was not able to photograph the children at play without their parent's permission so we trust you'll understand the photo of just the playground. Please know the Iberostar Tucan has an extensive kids club for children ages 4 thru 16. Lucy's kids club is open daily from 10:15am to 4:30pm. There is a mini club for kids ages 4-7, a maxi club for kids 8-12 and separate teen activities for ages 13-16 including a disco in the evening. All kids enjoy different age appropriate activities every day under the watchful eye of caring staff.
After hours babysitting and child care for younger children can be arranged through concierge and is paid for separately at a rate of about $10 per hour per child.
The grounds, landscape and layout of the Iberostar Tucan are all breath taking but in our humble opinion, this resort is not very stroller friendly and not well suited for infants or toddlers. Vacationkids agrees with recommending this resort in conjunction with the ages of the kids club. Parents with children age 4 and older will thoroughly enjoy this resort. Parents with younger kids may want to consider waiting until their children are a bit older so everyone can enjoy their stay at the Iberostar Tucan.
So if your family is looking for an exotic tropical adventure with all the luxuries of a five star all inclusive resort than your family has found their oasis at the Iberostar Tucan! |
