Here at Vacationkids.com we get tons of requests from families that often start out something like this..."We're looking for an all inclusive resort with more space and separate bedrooms". Hotel Marina El Cid has finally come to our rescue. Now parents can enjoy a separate master bedroom so that they can enjoy a little bit of "romance" away from their children. Extended families who don't get to see one another all that often now have the guarantee of separate bedrooms joined by common space areas. We heard rumors that there was a new family-friendly, all-suites, all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya. So we sent Vacationkids Family Fun Expert, Suzie Sturm down to investigate. Suz was given a VIP tour by sales Manager Jurriaan Klink. The Rumors are true...Hotel Marina El Cid Riviera Maya delivers on the promise of more space for families resort...and a whole lot more!

Hotel Marina Spa & Beach Resort Riviera Maya is located just 12 miles south of Cancun airport.
Every guest room in this resort is some type of suite, 350 suites in all. Guest room buidings are
a maximum of 4 stories tall, built in modern Mexican style paying tribute to the colonial past.
Another wonderful feature is that every suite in this resort offers a water view, either a pool view, ocean view or ocean front.

We asked Suz what was her first impression of Hotel Marina El Cid and she told us..."They have a pool that's the size of New Jersey". Well, OK, Maybe not THAT big, but it is a magnificent 22,000 square
foot, free form pool that includes waterfalls, children's area, swim-up bar and in-water lounge chairs and sun deck.

Then...surprise! Smack dab in the middle of this gigantic pool is a waterpark, slide, cliff diving area that Suzie said stands about three stories high! She said it made her scream like a little girl, which was just fine cause she fit right in with all the kids who absolutely LOVED it! |

Suzie did report however that some parents where having a great deal of problems getting their children to come out of the pool! They just wanted to stay and play all day.

Suzie tells us there is a nice balance at this resort. There's a great animation staff that keeps the fun going all day long. But, if you want to simply kick back and relax there are plenty of quiet, adult only areas where you can work on your tan and enjoy beach waiter service |

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort offers plenty of activities to keep all of their guests busy...
tennis, volleyball, windsurfing, boogie boards, hobie-cats, kayaking and a full activities staff to keep the fun going all day long.

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Riviera Maya has a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach. As with many of the resorts located in the northern part of the Riviera Maya between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, there is a good deal of sea grass in the water.
This is a matter of nature and the resort staff does clean the guest areas of the beach.

Snorkeling and diving lessons are free in the pool but there is not much visibility ocean due to the sea grass. For this reason, snorkeling equipment is not offered as part of the all inclusive non-motorized water sports. That said, the resort lies less than a mile from the town of Puerto Morelos which is famous for the Puerto Morelos National Reef Park. The reef itself lies about 500 feet off shore of the resort. It's a bit too far to swim directly but, for for a fee, the resort offers guided exursions to take guests on a 2 hour snorkeling excursion to see the magnificent corals and the masses of brightly colored tropical fish.

Children staying at Hotel Marina El Cid Riviera Maya will certainly enjoy the kids club.
Cid's is a fully gated, Kid Club providing a fun-time activities for children under the watchful eyes of their well-trained staff. Children ages 4-12 will enjoy age appropriate games, painting, drawing, puzzles, kite-making, shell jewelry, volleyball, sand castle contests and much more.

Cid's comes fully equipped with Xbox video games, dvd´s, all sorts of games and a small playground for some fun in the sand. The kids program runs from 9am to 9pm daily. In front of the kids club we have a kids pool with a mini waterslide for little swimmers who are not yet ready for cliff diving. For individual attention or after hours care, baby sitting service is available at surcharge of 15 USD per hour and is arranged 24 hours in advance with the concierge.

Suzie reports that the food at Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort Riviera maya is absolutely delicious! She says every restaurant offers specialized children's menus and 24 hour room service is
available too.
AL ANDALUS Open from 7am-11pm. Casual dining offering
international buffet fare, serving breakfast, lunch and
dinner.
HACIENDA ARRECIFE Open from 6:30am to 10:30pm, casual,
serves up fresh Mexican specialties poolside with
spectacular ocean views. The adjacent swim-up bar serves
premium brand beverages.
LA MARINA RESTAURANT Open from 6pm-10pm, located one block from the
hotel at the new marina, serves fresh seafood and lobster
with a view of yachts coming from around the world, giving
the clients a cosmopolitan air second to none. El Cid guests
are welcome to enjoy 1 night per stay (minimum 5 night stay
required) at this restaurant.
EL ALCAZAR open from 6pm-11pm, Mediterranean gourmet
restaurant offering indoor as well as alfresco dining on the
terrace. With its sleek minimalist decor and extensive wine
cellar, the restaurant is designed to provide an ideal
setting for romantic dinners and celebrations |

But we have to say, the one thing that impressed Suzie the most about the Hotel Marina El Cid Riviera Maya was their suites. The rumors were definitely true. Here families could spread out in comfort yet still stay together and enjoy a bit of privacy. To make the deal even sweeter, 2 children under age four are allowed to stay, play and eat free when they share a suite with two paying adults. Now parents, kids, grandparents and extended familie and friends can all vacation together in style....
