The Riu Cancun is the newest All Inclusive Resort to hit Cancun's hotel zone opening
late summer 2003 to the rave reviews of guests. Vacationkids Sally Black and Terry Hoddinott
toured the construction site in the early spring of 2003 and they can tell you this
resort has one of the best locations in Cancun. It's right in the heart of all the action,
near the convention center. From the beach of the Riu Cancun you can see the island of
Isla Mujeres. This isle acts like a natural barrier so the waves are gentle and
perfect for younger swimmers. Savvy travelers will recognize the Riu name. This hotel
company was started back in 1953 by a Spanish family. Now the third generation of this
same family runs over 100 first class resort properties around the world.
This makes it easy to understand why Riu resorts understands what families want.
Normally when a Riu Resort moves into the neighborhood, they just don't build one
resort, they usually build 2,3 or 4 different resorts adjacent to each other. This way
guests can have exchange privileges and more choices of food, bars and activities.
The Riu Cancun is the first to come to Cancun and this resort offers something for
all members of the family. The Riu Palace Las Americas is
currently being built next door and will soon offer its guests luxury amenities
that the other Riu Palaces are known for around the world.
