The Omni Resort has been a long standing favorite of Vacationkids families traveling to Cancun. Especially LARGER families. The Omni Cancun is FAMILY OF FIVE FRIENDLY in their standard rooms AND they even have two bedroom suites that can accommodate families of SIX, but more on that later. It is located just 9 miles and a short ride away from Cancun airport nestled between the Mexican Caribbean sea and the Nichupte Lagoon on a large strip of white sand beach.
Recently Vacationkids Sue Frantz toured the Omni resort and was very pleased by what she saw. Sue points out the Omni is a great resort choice for families who want their own style of Vacation. If families want the convenience of having all their meals, drinks, non motorized water sports and entertainment paid in advance, then families can elect to book and all inclusive stay at the Omni. For families who have kids that don't eat much, or have adults that don't drink alcohol...these folks can elect to purchase an EP or EUROPEAN PLAN vacation at the Omni Resort. With a European plan families can purchase their meals at the Omni's four different restaurants or enjoy the many great restaurants out and about in Cancun.

With families electing the European plan, children under the age of 18 stay free when sharing a room with an adult. Again this is only with the European plan ONLY and of course the kids will still need airfare unless parents are using their frequent flyer miles. When families choose the ALL Inclusive plan, then kids age 5 and under stay, play and eat for free. There are all inclusive rates for kids between the ages of 12 and 6.
Standard rooms at the Omni will allow families of FIVE to share the same room and the nicest feature is that kids need to be UNDER the age of 18 so it is a great choice for families with teens that want to stay together. Standard rooms include either one king OR two double beds with either a fold out sofa or extra cot for the third child. Room amenities include marble floors, bathroom with bathtub and shower, TV, air conditioning, direct dial phone, minibar, hair dryer, make up mirror, safety deposit box, iron/ironing board and coffee maker. Cribs available upon request.
The Omni Cancun also has a limited number of two bedroom suites. These rooms can accommodate families of SIX and include the same amenities as the standard rooms with much more space for larger families.
There are 2 1/2 bathrooms, the second bedroom has twin beds and there is a kitchen/living room area with a fold out sofa. You can see a photo of the villa living room here.

The Omni Cancun resort offers guest their choice of three gracious pools with cascading waterfalls that meander into one another and ramble thru the property. The jacuzzi bar and restaurant open up onto the resort's tropical, palm tree lined, private beach front that measures 60 feet long by 20 feet wide. Here little ones can splash in the turquoise waters and build crystal white sand castles while teens and adults try their hand at a game of beach volleyball. For families who elect to take the all inclusive plan complimentary non-motorized water sports are available with instruction at nearby Aquaworld and shuttle service is provided. In addition guests can enjoy the 3,300 sq ft gym and spa (fees for spa services), two lit tennis courts and nearby golf (fee).
According to Sue, this resort is really a good choice for parents who look forward to spending quality time with their kids.
There really isn't an organized kids club at this Omni resort. The entertainment staff will try to organize activities for kids who want to participate during the day between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Babysitting can be arranged 24 hours in advance at concierge and is approximately $10 per hour if parents want to take an excursion or have a night out on the town. Also there is no nightly entertainment here so this resort is relatively quiet for families who have kids with early bedtimes. Again there is just so much to see and do in and around the Cancun and Riviera Maya area that you're family can keep busy every minute of the day or elect to simply kick back and enjoy having fun in the sun together.

Families staying at the Omni Resort Cancun will enjoy a wonderful selection of foods to tempt every palate.
There are four restaurants available to guests staying at the Omni Cancun Resort. Again, All inclusive guests have all their meals, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks and gratuities included in the price of their trip. EP guests pay ala Carte prices for their meals, drinks and tips.
Pina Colada - A casual open air beach front restaurant serving breakfast and Caribbean seafood with grilled specialties for lunch.
Da Vinci - A gourmet Italian Mediterranean restaurant open for dinner only, proper attire is required. Closed on Mondays.
La Paloma - International cuisine with a Mexican flair served for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual environment. Both buffet and a la carte service are available.
Pool Bar Grill - American grilled foods served outdoors for lunch
Sue says Grown ups will enjoy the adults only Kuku's bar seen here offering your choice of service from either the beach front jacuzzi or the rope swings in the sand.
