Vacationkids' Jan McAuley has searched the Hawaiian Islands far and wide for the perfect family vacation spot. She found it at Napili Kai Beach Resort. Need an escape from the crowds of Waikiki? Too much of a trek to Lanai or Molokai? Too much Botox at Wailea? Too rainy on Kauai? Too much lava on the Big Island? Even Goldilocks would agree that the Napili Kai is JUST RIGHT.

The Napili Kai is a 10 acre resort located about a 40 minute drive from the Maui airport. The Hawaiian word KAI means lagoon and this describes the perfect little crescent of sand and sea where this resort sits. The Napili Kai is a smaller, intimate condominium style resort with buildings no higher than two floors. The grounds have lush tropical foliage, are stroller friendly and easy to navigate. This is where you bring your family members of all ages to experience real Hawaiian charm and the true aloha spirit.

Jan said she really liked this resort because unlike some of the mega resorts, the Napili Kai doesn't nickel and dime families with parking fees, snorkel gear rentals, putting green fees, kids club activities etc. All of these activities are included in the price.

Jan has been on a quest to find the perfect Hawaiian beach and she says the beach at the Napili Kai resort comes really close to perfection. Again the beach here is really a reef protected lagoon so it's gentle waves are just right for little swimmers. The slope of the beach is angled just right to create excellent conditions for body surfing and boogie boarding. In the winter months, the whales come to visit. From January thru March the whales bring their newborn families here to play in the surf too. This is an excellent reason to consider upgrading to an ocean view room so that your kids can watch the whale kids playing too.
Oh and please know...this is a very large beach as you can see from the opening arial view photo and the photo with Jan.
Our camera lens just aren't big enough to capture it all but we wanted to give you a bird's eye view up
both sides of the beach. When we got home and put the photos together it gave the lagoon the illusion of being a small pond. This is certainly not the case!

Also included in your package price at the Napili Kai resort is their Keiki club. The word "Keiki" in Hawaiian means "children" and your Keikis will have a wonderful time here. Activities include Hawaiian games, hula lessons, Hawaiian story telling, Nature walks and parent & child putting contests. The Keiki club is open for 3 hours per day and accepts children ages 6-12.
The Keiki Club ONLY operates during the summer months and during the peak weeks of Easter and Christmas holidays. Most all of your activities are included in your price but food, beverages and alcohol are not included and the Napili Kai does not offer meal plans. Jan says the Sea House Restaurant and Whale Watcher's bar located right on the property are excellent offering a wide variety of dining choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as Hawaiian entertainment nightly. Every Tuesday there is a luau performed by the Napili Kai Foundations students which is delightful and far more intimate. Jan can't imagine why anyone would want to leave this resort paradise during their stay but just in case, she wanted you to know that there are tons of restaurants and plenty of night life just five minutes south in the resort area of Kaanapali Beach. The quaint whaling town of Lahaina is just 10 minutes south with it's delightful shops, plenty of dining choices and galleries. Lahaina is where you can take ferry rides over to explore the Hawaiian islands of Molokai and Lanai to go exploring.
Golfers, please know The Kapalua Golf course is directly across the street from the Napili Kai.
For families, Jan recommends a visit to The Maui Ocean Center which is about a 25 minute ride from the Napili Kai resort. She says kids and parents alike will be amazed at the huge shark tank, the phosphorescent jelly fish and the turtle pond. For all this sightseeing and much more, vacationkids recommends you add a car rental to your vacation package when visiting the Napili Kai so that you family can enjoy all that Maui does have to offer.

The Napili Kai offers several different room categories. One point to remember is that there are a limited amount of rooms with air conditioning! Air conditioned rooms are on a request basis only and subject to resort availability. Air conditioned rooms cannot be guaranteed. Jan says all rooms have ceiling fans and are "breeze conditioned". She found her room to be very comfortable. All rooms offer a patio or terrace (called Lanais in Hawaiian), color TVs, AM/FM radios, bathtub and shower, telephone with message system, internet access (telephone rates will apply to internet), iron and board, in room safe, complimentary coffee and coffee maker, daily maid service and include free parking.
The Napili Kai offers a basic category which is a standard bedroom with either one king bed OR two twin beds and a mini fridge. The next category is the studio room which has the same bed choices with the addition of a fully equipped galley kitchen. Shopping for groceries is easily accessible and having access to a kichen certainly helps offset dining costs for families on a budget. Upgrades are available depending upon the view. These rooms will hold a maximum of three people using either a cot or a crib.
There is also a Family Studio which again is one large room. The bathroom has two sinks and a separate shower area and toilet. These rooms also have kitchenettes. These rooms will allow TWO children under the age of 12 to share a room with their parents using cots or cribs.

In addition, the Napili Kai offers 1 bedroom suites that will accomodate a family of five with a private bedroom for parents and a 2 bedroom/2 bath room that will fit a family up to 7 people. Architechturally, the way this property is designed, we can offer 3 adjoining studios that will accomodate of family of 9 persons traveling together. The Napilia Kai is an excellent choice for FAMILY REUNIONS...when 10 or more people stay together in a minimum of 4 rooms, families will receive a complimentary group photo, welcome flowers and extra ammenities.
At Vacationkids we often joke by saying..."Planning a family vacation is just like planning a family - you need to work nine months in advance". This is very true for larger families wanting to stay at the Napili Kai resort. The larger suite rooms are in high demand and usually sell out far in advance. So if you have a large family that wants to be assured of all staying together then please make sure you give our staff at Vacationkids plenty of advance notice so that we can get you the rooms you require. So come and bring your family to say ALOHA to Napili Kai resort.
