Vacationkids.com invites your family to experience the Grand Hyatt KauaiResort and Sap...the ultimate Hawaian Classic Hotel on the Island of Kauai. Experience the Hawaii your family has always dreamed about. Vacationkids own Jan McAuley takes you on a tour of this fabulous property bringing you one step closer to your Hawaiian dream vacation. Keep in mind this resort is not all inclusive. Your family will need to purchase meals and pay separately for additional activities so please be aware of this fact when planning your travel budgets. With this in mind, Jan says the views alone from the Grand Hyatt Kauai are simply priceless not to mention the memories your famly will enjoy for years to come!

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort, Kauai, Hawaii

The spectacular Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is nestled on 50 ocean front acres on Keoneloa Bay in ever-sunny Poipu Beach area. Most travelers consider Kauai to be the most wet and rainy of the Hawaiian Islands but truth be told, Kauai actually has seven different micro climates ranging from dry desert to tropical rain forest. The Poipu Beach area of Kauai where the Grand Hyatt resort is located, has a semi-arid tropical climate. The nearby Haupu Mountain range blocks most prevailing showers so this area experiences less rain per year than Miami.

Jan tells us the Grand Hyatt Kauai sits directly on the golden sand shoreline of Shipwreck beach. This area is known as a one of the best beaches for surfers. Older teens and families can elect to learn this true Hawaian sport from knowledgable area instructors. Parents must realistically keep in mind that a beach that offers excellent surfing can be dangerous to even the most proficient swimmer. While Shipwreck beach is magnificently beautiful, families must remember that the strong rip currents or powerful shorebreak that make this beach a surfer's dream can mean danger for unsuspecting little waders. Warning flags are posted along the beach to help guest determine which areas are safe for swimming. There is no lifeguard posted at Shipwreck beach so following safety guidelines is extremely important. Located just a short distance from the Grand Hyatt Resort, families can drive to Poupi beach which was recently named America's Best Beach by The Travel Channel, ranking top among 10 "best" beaches selected nationwide and there is also the aptly named Baby Beach just to the west of Poupi Beach. Both of these areas offer beach-goers gentle waves, wonderful swimming and abundant snorkeling. You may even spot and endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal sunbathing along with you on the beach!

Parents concerned about the beach need not worry because there is water-water EVERYWHERE at the Grand Hyatt Kauai resort and spa. You and the kids can save your salt water swimming for the resort's private 5 acre salt water lagoon pool. Here your family can sit back and relax in the warm Hawaiian sunshine enjoying the extensive lagoon/pool area with gentle waterfalls and jacuzzis. Families enjoy complimentary poolside amenities like cards, games, towels, umbrellas, sunscreen, smashball sets, books, magazines, water basketball, and ping pong tables, lounges, hammocks, floating chairs, fluffy beach towels and baby toys. If you want a bit of action, non motorized watersports and activities like water basketball, scuba demos and volleyball are on going. And...for those thrill seekers out there, you can torpedo down the Grand Hyatt's 150-foot waterslide!
